Vous êtes certainement quelques uns à ne pas penser à la Maison Valentino quand on parle de mode masculine, moi le premier et pourtant ! Je ne sais pas pourquoi d'ailleurs je n'en ai pas parlé plus souvent ? C'est vrai que la maison a connu pas mal de mouvement en terme créatif après le départ du Valentino Garavani en 2008, le passage (trop rapide à mon goût) d'Alessandra Facchinetti, puis l'arrivé d'anciens collaborateurs de la maison, Maria Grazia Chiuri et Pier Paolo Piccioli. Des écarts rédactionnels de ma part pour en arriver aujourd'hui à la collection automne hiver 2012 2013.

You are certainly some few to not think about Valentino brand when you speak about men fashion, me the first and yet ! I don’t know why anyway I didn’t spoke more often about it. It’s true that the brand did have a lot of turnover on creative side after the leaving of Valentino Garavani in 2008, the coming of Alessandra Facchinetti (too short for me), then the comeback of former partners of the brand, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli. Some editorial detour for my part to arrive today at the Fall-winter 2012-13 collection.

Maria Grazia Chiuri et Pier Paolo Piccioli se sont longtemps occupés des accessoires chez Valentino et j'ai le sentiment que cela a eu une influence sur le style qu'ils ont insufflé à leurs collection. Sans doute dans la construction simple et très graphique ou les duels de matières nobles se marient avec une coupe précise pour un résultat plus qu'élégant. Je pense à la noblesse romaine moderne quand j'observe l'ensemble de la collection. Je suis conquis.

Chez la femme ce qui saute tout de suite aux yeux c'est l'ambiance monochromatique des silhouettes, du blanc, du noir, du rose mais aussi le fameux rouge, rarement la maison varie, cela fait tout simplement parti des signatures visuelles. C'est un repaire facilement remarquable. Je me suis concentré dans ma sélection sur le blanc et le noir qui faisait écho à mes choix pour l'homme. Il y avait aussi de nombreux vêtements en cuir... mais l'essentiel pour moi est là.

Je ne sais pas comme fonctionne le duo dans la réalisation de leur collection, si Maria s'occupe de la femme, si Pier Paolo s'occupe de l'homme, ou bien si il s'agit d'une vraie partition artistique à 4 mains ? Ce qui est certain c'est que les deux lignes sont cohérentes avec une même approche, une même vision de l'élégance à l'italienne. Donnez moi le costume black tie et la cape pour arpenter les nuits romaines...

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli were used to manage accessories in Valentino and I have the feeling that it has influenced the style they gave to their collection. Without a doubt in the simple and graphical build-up where mix of noble fabrics are complementing a precise cut for an elegant result. I think of a modern Roman nobility when I observe the whole collection. I’m conquered.

With women the obvious is this monochromatic ambiance of the silhouettes, white, black, pink but also the famous red, rarely the brand varies, this is simply part of the visual signatures. This is an easily outstanding lair. I focused on my selection on the white and the black to echo my choices for men. There was also many leather clothes… But the essential for me it’s here.

I don’t know how the duo is working in the making of the collection, if Maria manages women, if Pier Paolo manages men, or if it is a true artistic partition with 4 hands ? What is a certainty is that both lines are coherent with the same approach, a same vision of Italian elegancy. Give me the black tie suit and the cape to pace the Roman nights.
